Telstra Desktop Messaging
Telstra Desktop Messaging ends 9 November 2026
Desktop Messaging did two-way SMS and MMS from a browser. BE Messaging does the same job on a real Australian 04 — shared inbox, conversation history, and a live estimate on /pricing rather than a demo booking.
The dates Telstra published
- 1.
30 June 2025
No longer sold to new customers.
- 2.
10 November 2025
Withdrawn for small and medium business.
- 3.
6 August 2026
Enterprise accounts frozen — no adds or changes.

9 November 2026
Withdrawn from the market. Remaining inboxes stop.
What carries over
Sending from a browser stays. Replies stop being split.
One shared inbox
Desktop Messaging split replies between Company and Personal inboxes by who sent. BE Messaging keeps the whole conversation in one shared inbox the team can see and answer.
Conversation history, not a sent log
Every message stays in the thread it belongs to, with the reply beside it.
REST instead of XML
Public API at /api/v1 with scoped keys. MCP at /mcp for hosted assistants. HMAC-signed webhooks for inbound and delivery events.
Templates & one-off schedule
Reusable templates. Campaigns schedule once in the company timezone. Replies become inbox conversations.
Photos on the business number
True MMS on the business 04. Photos land in the same shared inbox as the texts — the desk already uses that thread.
Month-to-month
Estimate numbers, campaign SMS, and MMS overage on /pricing, then start a trial. Sales quotes remain for ports and anything the configurator does not cover.

FAQ
Questions from Desktop Messaging customers
- Is Telstra Desktop Messaging being discontinued?
- Yes. Per Telstra’s own timeline: off sale 30 June 2025, SMB withdrawn 10 November 2025, Enterprise frozen 6 August 2026, market withdrawal 9 November 2026.
- Do you have a one-click Telstra importer?
- No. The offer is bring the number and the inbox across — we do not pretend this repo contains a migration wizard.
- Can I still send and receive photos from a browser?
- Yes. True MMS on the business number — send and receive in the shared inbox, not a workaround or a staff phone.
- Company inbox and personal inbox?
- You get one shared inbox. History stays with the company, not a staff phone.
- Can I schedule a message for later?
- At the campaign level, yes — date and time in the company timezone. Single conversation schedule and recurring daily/weekly sends are not available yet.
- Is this a Telstra product?
- No. Binary Elements is independent. Telstra marks are used only to identify the service being withdrawn.
